Hi Lisa
We have
just had our monthly meeting and I am really pleased to tell
you that our association status paperwork has finally arrived.
We are changing our name as of today to MARA - Murcia Animal
Rescue Association. This means we can plough on with fund
raising and approach the Councils for assistance. The shop is
doing really well, we are in need of more stock and if anyone
out there has doggy bowls, carrying boxes or even plastic
bowls/containers, we have a need for them. I know you will be
pleased to hear we have just re-homed 3 dogs but there are
always plenty more needing new mummies and daddies!!!

Hi Lisa
Very many
thanks for the copy of the mag, which arrived today. It’s a
really impressive publication and the space you have given to
the feature about my books is extremely generous. I can’t
thank you enough. You’ll be receiving your review copy and
competition prize copy of ‘The Gannet Has Landed’ when
available - probably mid-July.

Hi Lisa
July sees
the first anniversary of “The Cutting Room”. Since we opened,
we have increased our services which now include hair
extensions, acrylic nail extensions, manicures, pedicures,
massage and waxing...as well as the fact that two of us are
fluent in Spanish and available for translating! We would
like to take this opportunity to thank all of the clients who
have been through our doors, for their continued support,
especially those of you who have been there from the beginning.
You know who you are!
At a time
when other salons seem to be struggling, we are going from
strength to strength and with your help, we plan to continue
making “The Cutting Room” the biggest and best English
speaking salon in North West Murcia, where what the customer
wants will always come first and never be compromised.
Thank you
all

Ed: Congratulations on your first anniversary!!! May your
success and business continue to grow.
Hi Lisa
We were
wondering if you know of a chimney sweep in the Bullas La Copa
area. We have just moved in and the chimney is badly in need
of sweeping.

Ed: If anyone can help, let me know here at the Gazette and I
will pass on the details to Avril
Hello,
I was
wondering if you could give me some advice or put me in touch
with someone who can. Our names are Muriel and Alex
McCorkindale from Dundee, Scotland, and hope to buy property
in El Balcon de Moratalla. We are keen to buy but need to
know from those who live there as much about the area as
possible. We are keen to become integrated. Any advice would
be greatly received.
Regards
Muriel and Alex McCorkindale
Ed: Perhaps our readers from Moratalla and the surrounding
area could contact Muriel and Alex and help them out. Their
email address is

Hi Lisa
Thought
you might like to know that I received a call from a chap in
Pinoso (near Jumilla) who had read about my Theatre Group in
your mag - your distribution certainly covers a big area.
Many thanks.

Dear Editor
Very
recently I sustained an injury to my leg following a fall
which occurred in the workplace. Through the magazine I would
like to thank everyone who rushed to my assistance and kept me
company whilst waiting for the ambulance; to those who stayed
with me during and after the visit to A&E at Caravaca
hospital, either in person or on the phone. To ‘The Folks
Below’ and ‘The Zoo Keeper’ for keeping me on the straight and
narrow and keeping me in medicine to combat the pain!
The
medical team who attended the emergency call and the staff at
Caravaca A&E department were excellent and I was treated
quickly and efficiently. Thanks also go to all my many
clients for understanding why I have had to cancel their
appointments during this period of immobilisation. Thanks to
everyone who has sent me messages for a speedy recovery, of
best wishes and continuing help, either in person, via text,
email or telephone, your support has been very much
appreciated.
I hope to
be back working very soon, if not already by the time this
letter is read. Because of my profession I have been able to
aid my own recovery.
All those
involved know who you are. I thank you all for your great
kindness shown towards me.
Kind

Editor: Thank you so much for your support of the Gazette - it
makes the hard work worthwhile! Readers can see the article
in this edition.
Hi Lisa
Your new
way of advertising is very good and cheap. The TV and stand
went just a few days after the magazine came out.

Hi Lisa
Have sold
all three items - water heater, bath and shower tray! Well
done.

Hi Lisa
Many
thanks for advertising the opening of the Charity Shop at
Britbits. I thought you might like to know that we have
raised over 1000 euros in our first month from sales, raffle
and donations, a great start but still a long way to go before
we get our kennels!! We are very grateful for the support we
have received but could still do with more volunteers to man
the shop a few hours a month if anyone has some spare time and
wants to get out and about. We also desperately need more
coathangers as we have many more items of clothing to display.
Thanks to everyone for their support.

Dear Lisa
I want to
let you and your readers know about my recent visit to The
Cutting Room in Cehegin. I didn’t have an appointment - I
just popped in on the off chance. Jacqui said she could fit
me in if I could come back in about an hour as she was booked
up until then. I went back an hour later and I was very
impressed with my haircut and they were very friendly and
helpful and I was presently surprised at how reasonable the
prices were. I will definitely be returning in future to have
my hair cut.

Hi Lisa
Good news
- I have sold the trailer. I had a phone call two days after
you had delivered the magazine and then the next day they
looked at it and picked it up that night so thanks!

Hola
Today I
saw a TV programme on Calasparra festivals. I was really
interested to see that there was a running of the bulls. Do
you know where I can get information on local to Murcia
bullfights?
I love
reading your articles online. We are planning to come to
Spain shortly to spend a year in our property and find your
online magazine very, very interesting.
Thank you
I R Mortimer
Ed: Check with the local town halls or tourist offices -
bullfights go on throughout the year except December and
January
Hello Lisa
Just been
over to Spain for a few days and had a great time. Arrived
home and I’m just having a nosey through your website - very
impressive I must say! My mum and dad are moving over to
Spain next month and are in need of a property so I’m going to
use your links to see what’s available.
All the
best

Hi Lisa
My
daughter and son-in-law are buying a house in Calasparra. I
never know what to buy them for Christmas and having found
your excellent website, I wonder if it might be possible to
send you the cost of a year’s subscription to the Gazette plus
postage please? I hope so.
Regards
Bunty
Ed: Of course and thank you for your kind comments about the
website - I have passed them on to Mike, the web guy. Proof
that a great website works!!
Dear Lisa
Following
a recent operation and a short stay in hospital, I would like
to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to those friends
who expressed concern for me and visited me during my
recuperation. Many thanks to you all.

Dear Lisa
I wanted
to write to let you know how much I enjoy reading your
magazine every month. I have most of the back copies and find
them useful to refer to. I also love the size as it fits well
in my handbag and it is packed with articles and information -
not just adverts. Some months we have trouble getting hold of
a copy as they seem to go very quickly. I then read it from
cover to cover and particularly enjoyed reading the “serial”
on the Spanish Civil War as I love history. Keep up the good
work.

Dear Lisa
We picked
up a copy of the September edition of your magazine at San
Javier airport after we had visited the area looking into
buying property. We particularly enjoyed reading about The
War of Jenkins’ Ear between Great Britain and Spain in the
18th century. We had never even heard of it before and
thought it made for interesting reading. The Spanish Property
News article was also very interesting. I would like to
subscribe to your magazine please and will keep you informed
about our move to Spain (fingers crossed!!).

Dear Lisa
This July
31st our son, Tom, was 13. Knowing he wouldn’t be keen on a
party, we booked a day with Steve and Ben from Sol Moto (website
www.solmoto.com).
“WOW, AWESOME!”, as Tom described it. “BEST PRESENT EVER”.
They spent all day here at El Chaparral teaching Tom how to
ride a motorbike, which they supplied. They supplied all the
“gear” and experience they have.
Having
never been on a bike before, they were so encouraging and
enthusiastic with Tom that by the end of the day Tom was
capable of riding out on his own, followed by Ben.
A
fabulous day was had by all and we are now looking forward to
visiting them in the autumn and having another exhilarating
day.
A big
thanks to Steve and Ben. Oh, by the way - you’ve started
something now!!

Hi Lisa
My name
is Julie and I have not long bought a house in Cehegin. I
will be coming out in August for 2 weeks with my husband and
son. I was wondering if you could help me. I am looking for
any car boot sales. I know you may think I am cheeky asking
you, but I don’t know who else to ask. I read your magazine
and enjoyed it very much. I love Cehegin and can’t wait to
come back out in August. Do you post your magazine to
Britain?
Many
Thanks
Julie
Ed: Thanks for your kind comments about the mag!! Yes, there
are 2 car boot sales - one in Cehegin and one in Mula. I have
emailed details to you. Enjoy your visit!!
Dear Lisa
I must
say that I really enjoy reading the Gazette and the website is
brilliant too; quick and regularly updated. Well done indeed!

Dear Lisa
Having
lived in Spain for a couple of years, I realised I know
nothing about the history of Spain and was wondering if you
would like to write an article about this.
I look
forward to getting your mag every month - it is a very
interesting read. Keep up the good work.
Marie
Ed: I have started an article this month about the Spanish
Civil War. Hope you enjoy it and thanks for the idea!!
Anyone else have ideas for articles, please let me know.
Dear
Lisa
I read
with interest about the exhibition you are arranging in
Murcia. Well done, you. It is a great idea for people to
come to see what businesses there are all under one roof (and
good for the businesses too). I will definitely be coming,
along with family we have visiting at that time. I look
forward to seeing you there on the 29th July.

Dear Lisa
Have just had a wee look at your website and it is super.
Well done. You must be pleased with it. Lots of info on
there. I will send you info on the big Mayo festival we have
here in Alhama beginning of May. It is quite unique I think
and lasts for about a week.
The passport info and application is particularly useful as
mine expires within the next 12 mon¨ths and I had been
starting to get my head around doing something about it. Now
I know what to do and where to go! The layout is very good
and I like the info on places in the region. I wonder if it
is worth including tourist/info office details for the towns
which have them?
Again, well done.
Best wishes
Avril, Alhama de Murcia
Dear Lisa
Just had a quick scan of The Gazette. I was most impressed
with the content. We have a house near Cehegin and were due
to move out this year but as my wife has suffered from kidney
failure, we have to put it on hold for a while.
Do any of your readers have any experience of Kidney Dialysis
Units in Murcia? Perhaps you could include in your next
edition.
Best Regards
Ian
Ed: If any
readers have experience or know of someone with information on
kidney dialysis centres in Murcia, please let the Gazette know
and we will pass the information on to Ian.
Hi Lisa
Have been on your new website several times, it’s very slick.
The information about each tourist town in Murcia is excellent.
It is much better than the Murcia Tourist Board’s, which does
not list many towns. I liked the fact that history,
architecture and natural beauty was included on each town.
Only idea I can suggest is when you have the time, put a
picture from the town that you are describing. The “Buying a
House in Spain” section was very clear and easy to understand,
concise and to the point. The info on reptiles was really
interesting and the section on snakes was very useful - again,
with time, I am sure you will include other animal sections
e.g. birds, etc.
Regards
Chris McCann
Dear Lisa
I read
with interest your article about the lollipop men and women to
help with traffic in Alicante. I wonder if we will get them
here in Murcia? I hope they become a more common sight as the
black and white stripes indicating a zebra crossing do not
seem to mean the same in Spain and you take your life into
your own hands every time you step on one!!
Love the
magazine by the way and look forward to it every month.

wishes

Hi
I heard
this Spanish/English joke at my Spanish class here in the UK
and thought I would send it in.
An
Englishman went to Spain on a fishing trip. He hired a
Spanish guide to help him find the best fishing spots. Since
the Englishman was learning Spanish, he asked the guide to
speak to him in Spanish and to correct any mistakes of usage.
They were hiking on a mountain trail when a very large, purple
and blue fly crossed their path. The Englishman pointed at
the insect with his fishing rod and said “Mira el mosca!” The
guide, sensing a teaching opportunity, replied “No, señor, ‘la
mosca’ - es femenina”. The Englishman looked at him, then
back at the fly and then said “Good heavens….you must have
incredibly good eyesight”.
