I must
have been the only person that didn’t know about the
impending fuel crisis. I pulled into the garage in Bullas and
wondered why all the pumps were out of order. The man came
out and told me that they had received no deliveries and he
didn’t know when the next one would be. He also said that
there was no fuel in the other garage in Bullas, either. I
rang hubby and he said “Yeah, I know”. I must have been
daydreaming!!!!
However,
it makes you think. Even now, one week on, the supermarket
shelves are almost empty. What would have happened had the
strike gone on for longer?
I know it
was an “inconvenience” having no fuel and not much food
reaching the shops but you have to admire the Spanish for
sticking to their guns and standing up for what they believe
in. Fuel prices have soared recently and lots of small
businesses are struggling or going out of business.
Now Shell
in the UK is on strike as this edition goes to print so
possibly they will be having problems with deliveries, etc as
well. We will have to wait to see if this action by lorry
drivers makes a difference..... |
