All consular posts in
Spain can issue an emergency passport, valid for a single journey to
the United Kingdom.
The British Consulate-General
in Madrid also issues full 10 year passports. Applications should be
made on the relevant C1 form for adults, or C2 form for under-16s.
You should enclose two passport size photographs, taken with a white
background, one of which must be countersigned, and the fee. If your
application is for a passport renewal, you should also include your
old passport. We aim to process all routine passport applications
within ten days of receipt of a fully completed application and the
correct fee. We do not offer a fast track service for passports and
cannot bring forward your application for a passport except in the
most extreme compassionate circumstances such as a death, accident
or serious injury. We would also require documentary evidence (eg a
letter from a doctor) of this before agreeing to escalate your
passport application.
Please read the notes
and complete the application form carefully. Failure to do so
may mean we return the application to you for completion. Please
include your best daytime telephone contact number/s. Because we
scan your signature it is important that you sign well within the
signature box provided.
For further enquiries
about passports for the UK, please call:
807 42 90 26 between 09:00 and 17:30. This service is provided by
Abtran, calls cost €1.09 per minute. Please note, this number does
not work from outside Spain, so you will need to telephone from a
Spanish landline or Spanish mobile telephone.
The UK premium numbers
(0906 664 1717) will service any calls from within the UK from
family members of applicants residing in Spain, with enquiries
regarding status updates or general enquiries. The lines were set up
to assist applicants further with enquiries, who may not have access
to premium numbers themselves within the countries listed above. The
service is operated by ABTRAN and calls cost £1.50 per minute. They
will operate between 9am - 5.30pm UK time Monday to Friday excluding
UK bank holidays.

Courier applications are not treated as urgent.
